Webinar on Polyploidy and its role in evolution of plants
A national webinar on the topic “Polyploidy and its role in evolution of plants” was successfully conducted at Eternal University, Baru-Sahib (H.P.) on Thursday (June 17, 2021). Professor M.C. Sidhu, a renowned plant cytogeneticist and distinguished academician from the Panjab University Chandigarh was the key speaker. He delivered a very informative talk to the attending participants from various parts of our country. Professor M.C.
Sidhu discussed the role of polyploidy in improvement of crop production and also showed slides of rare photographs of chromosomes to highlight his view points. Webinar was organised by Eternal University Botanical Society, Department of Botany, EU, Baru-Sahib under the blessings of honorable vice-chancellor Dr Davinder Singh and leadership of pro-vice-chancellor Prof.
A.S. Ahluwalia. It was co-ordinated online by Dr D. K. Srivastava, Dr Lata and Ms. Pallavi at the Botany department. Large number of candidates participated in the webinar and more than 150 candidates were registered to listen to this webinar from the different parts of our country. A number of such webinars are being planned to be organised by different departments of the university where well known speakers will share their experiences with the students, young researchers and the faculty.
