Collaborative Goal of training Teachers & Rural Education – Akal Academies & Helga Todd Educational Foundation -UK


To achieve the objective of creating /training rural women who can communicate effectively in written and spoken English with good comprehension skills for various subjects, the institutional collaboration of Akal Academy Baru Sahib HP, with Helga Todd Teachers’ Education Foundation UK  was initiated in 2009. The core of the collaboration was to provide pedagogical nuances of global standards to rural women trainees (Pre-service ) and in-service teachers across Akal Academies spread in five states of north India

The program started with a group of forty 12th pass women girl students for a continuous 2 years fully residential project were trained by visiting and full-time faculty of repute and excellence (about 20 in number from Oxford University/ Cambridge University/ Headteachers of schools in and around London) from  Helga Todd Educational Trust UK. Certification of this early years Teacher training was done by Cambridge University. In all, about 600 young rural women teachers were impacted by this philanthropic work undertaken by the Helga Todd trust under the leadership of Mr. Ram Todd who was a visionary with a humanistic spirit and resonated with the missionary zeal of Honourable Saint Baba Iqbal Singh Ji the spiritual mentor of the silent educational revolution being unfolded in north India by creating a chain of 130 schools run on an economy model
On the occasion of the memorial service of Mr. Robert Ram Todd an invitation to The Kalgidhar Trust was attended by Dr. Davinder Singh Ji (President – The Kalgidhar Trust) and Dr. Neelam Kaur (Advisor- Health & Education). The two organizations, already in collaboration for the last decade agreed to work together to further strengthen their resolve for the cause of rural education and to take this legacy of founding saints forward by providing quality education at the doorsteps of rural northern India.
